Hannah Gustavson Johnson

Hannah Gustavson was born in Sweden, and married Charles Johnson, also born in Sweden. We do not know whether they came to America before or after their marriage; all we know is from Compendium of History Reminiscence & Biography of Western Nebraska, p 478, published 1909:

"Charles and Hannah (Gustavson) Johnson, natives of Sweden, .... came to this country when young people. When [their son Harris] was two years old, his parents moved to Hamilton county, Iowa, and there their family of eight children was reared."

Charles and Hannah Johnson's children included Olivia, Louisa, Len, Harris, Cecilia, Clara, Lydia, & Emma (not necessrily in that order). Four of the sisters died of tuberculosis in their late teens or early twenties, and Harris died of the same disease, much later. Olivia Johnson's married name was Ristram. Louise survived, but never married; Len lived into his 80s. Pictures of all of Charles and Hannah Johnson's children may be seen on my page of Johnson pictures.

I do not currently have their birth and death dates, nor those of most of their children. Their son Harris was born in Moline, Illinois, in 1866.

They are buried in Stratford, Iowa.

Here is the complete picture from which the above is a detail:

Grandmother Johnson (Alice Johnson Derry's Grandmother), her daughter Aunt Olivia Johnson Ristram (oldest sister of Alice's father Harris), and Olivia's son and grandson: 4 generations.
